Ponte 16 Grand Opening Press Conference

(Macau SAR, 1st February 2008) Ponte 16 held its Grand Opening Press Conference on 1st February 2008. Officiating Guests at the Press Conference include: Director of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. and Chairman of Pier 16 – Resort Hotel Management Ltd, Dr. Ambrose So; Executive Director and Chairman of Macau Success Limited and Chief Executive Office of Pier 16 – Resort Hotel Management Ltd, Mr. Sonny Yeung; Deputy Chief Executive Officers of Pier 16 – Resort Hotel Management Ltd., Mr. Hoffman Ma and Mr. Marco Lee.

Dr. Ambrose So said in the press conference, “The Inner Harbor is an old friend of Macau, which is full of the collective memories of society.  SJM, through the development of the Ponte 16, aims to continue the historical and cultural mission of the Inner Harbor, and to give more substance to Macau’s gaming-based tourism by coordinating with the government in the revitalization of the old urban districts.”  He believed that the old Inner Harbor and the new Ponte 16 will be well-liked by tourists and residents alike.   

Mr. Sonny Yeung highlighted in his speech that Ponte 16, situated in the old Inner Harbor, surrounded by numerous UNESCO Heritage sites, visitors to Ponte 16 gets to enjoy the modern entertainment facilities and visit the Inner Harbor and experience the air of nostalgia.

The TV commercial (launched this evening on all major TV channels) and “The Making of Ponte 16” which detailed the Ponte 16 project from conception to completion were shown. After the press conference, the media was brought on a tour of the facilities.

The Grand Opening Ceremony will be held on 1st February 2008 at 7pm. Among the evening’s spectacle is a technically challenging lion dance choreographed by the “Matrix” technical direction team. Look out for two lions climbing up the 18-storey façade to “pluck the greens”.

After the Grand Opening Ceremony, the celebration moves indoors to a party featuring renowned Taiwanese R&B singer David Tao, and popular Hong Kong singers Stephy Tang and Teresa Fu. Guests will also be treated to a fashion show featuring Hong Kong designer Arthur Lam’s latest evening wear collection and jewelry sponsored by Chow Tai Fook to the tune of 30 Million Hong Kong Dollars. Beautiful people, beautiful jewelry, beautiful clothes bring ultimate glamour to Ponte 16. 

The casino will open to public at 10pm. There are two special opening promotions: All new Ponte 16 membership signups between 1st February and 3rd February will get a chance to enter the Cash Lucky Draw. And between 1st February and 31st March, all new members will get a chance to enter the Grand Draw to win a BMW SUV and other grand prizes.

Ponte 16 integrated casino-entertainment resort is built over 2.3 hectares is ideally located in the culturally rich Inner Harbor of Macau. At its completion, the resort consists of a five-star hotel, a casino and an upcoming entertainment and retail complex. The current phase opens with two levels of casino area offering 105 gaming tables and 300 slot machines.
