“MJ Gallery at Ponte 16” Logo Design Competition

Contestant from Taiwan Wins Grand Prize with Innovative Design
(Macau, 28 June 2010) Ponte 16 is pleased to announce the result of the Logo Design Competition for the MJ Gallery at Ponte 16 (the “Gallery”). Lin Ting You from Taiwan won the grand prize with his outstanding creative concept and design techniques.
The contest attracted entries from Macau, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan within a short period of two months. Judging criteria included creativity, originality and design techniques. The winner, Lin Ting You, made use of the letters “M” and “J” in the name of Michael Jackson (“MJ”) to create MJ’s signature fedora hat and the distinctive silhouette of his face. The word “Gallery” was illustrated in the form of a microphone, representing the music career of MJ. Lin’s innovative design vividly showed the unique glamour of MJ on stage.
The competition offered people an opportunity to showcase their creativity and provided a channel for the public and visitors to reminisce the King of Pop.
The grand prize included a special edition set of MJ signature glove and fedora hat, one night of hotel accommodation at The Mansion Sofitel At Ponte 16, round-trip transportation subsidies and other prizes with a total value of around HK$20,000. Besides, the winning logo will also appear on selected promotional materials of the Gallery.
Ponte 16 extends the legend of MJ by opening the first Michael Jackson gallery in Asia. Since opening in February 2010, the Gallery has attracted a great number of visitors. Ponte 16 successfully held the “Rock the World” Exhibition in May, which brought into Macau valuable items from the biggest stars in modern movies and pop music. In addition, a MJ-themed café is scheduled to open in coming July, which is expected to attract more visitors to Ponte 16 as well as to the Inner Harbour district.
In early October, Ponte 16 will co-organize with Julien’s Auctions to bring to Macau its first auction in Asia, unveiling rare collectibles of some of the biggest names in the showbiz including MJ. The auction will add to the attractions of Macau during the Golden Week holiday in October. Please stay with us for more details of this exciting event.
